Entry for the Condo Competition

The competition was aimed at generating ideas for the interior of apartments in the Condo building - a new concept for a residential building with compact apartments of 50 m2. The challenge was to design one element that could house all functions and at the same time define the space. A sculptural wooden volume is strategically placed in the space thus defining the different programmatic zones; cooking, eating, relaxing, sleeping and working. The more private functions - sleeping and working - are situated on a platform. The sculptural effect of the volume is enhanced by cuts in 5 different colors, thus distinguishing the different condo's. The element is constructed in cross-laminated timber (CLT) providing a warm, natural atmosphere.
